Hailing from Spain, Couto’s groove infused productions have landed him on prominent house imprints such as Hot Creations, Saved and 20/20 Visions. He also runs his own label, Roush, which has seen a string of releases from established artists such as Steve Lawler and a string of upcoming talent. How did your music career get started in earnest?
I started as a hobby when I was 17 years old and everything became more serious at the age of 20, signing music on big labels and playing gigs all around Europe
Where are you from and does it have an influence on your music?
I was born and raised on the island of Tenerife. Breakbeats were very popular in my early days, that sound influenced my music and made me the producer that I am now !!
How many times did you want to quit trying to make this your career?
Never thought to quit, I´ve always believed in myself.
What was one piece of equipment that helped define your sound early on?
I love the sound of my Midas Venice F24, that mixer makes the a difference with my music
When you were getting started, which artists did you try to emulate (both musically and careerwise)?
In my beginnings, my role model was Steve Lawler.
When you have a tough week or a rough tour, how do you get yourself back on track?
I exercise a lot to get back on track.
Where and when are you at your most content/happiest?
At home with my family and my closest friends.
Do you have any secret hobbies or hidden talents?
I love surfing in my free time.
