THE REAL

How did your music career get started in earnest?

I grafted on the Bristol circuit as a teenager and got a break as a resident at a drum n bass night in the 90’s called mutiny, when I was still very young. From there I started to release music.

Where are you from and does it have an influence on your music?

I grew up in the south west of the United Kingdom. Every aspect of my musical up bringing came from there or my birth place, London. But mainly Bristol, as that city has had the most influence and impact on me.

How many times did you want to quit trying to make this your career?

Never really.. creativity isn’t a career, its exercise .

What was one piece of equipment that helped define your sound early on?

A Behringer composer pro and EMU 6400 ultra.

When you were getting started, which artists did you try to emulate (both musically and careerwise)?

Everyone and no one, as I wasn’t good enough or clever enough to realize thats probably the easiest way to get a bench mark to aim for

When you have a tough week or a rough tour, how do you get yourself back on track?

Boxing/exercise, family, make more music, make paintings,I don’t really ever have bad times with music any more, and i’m not talking shit here, I use to when i was younger as I was constantly trying to go one up on my last tracks. But now I honestly feel truly blessed to be able to do something I love.

Where and when are you at your most content/happiest?

Studio, at home, doing new things, taking my self outside of my comfort zone and learning new things in life..

Do you have any secret hobbies or hidden talents?

Not really. I like to learn as much as i can, as life is short n theres so many incredible things out there...
